Something not working?
Most of what goes wrong is answered on this page. There is no support mailbox yet: the app is not on a store, and this page will name an address that somebody reads before it is. Until then, the person who gave you the link is the person to ask.
Using it in a browser
The same app runs in a browser tab at gymbuddy.reaktor.build. What you log is kept by that browser, on that device. Another browser, another device or a private window starts empty, and clearing the site's data deletes it for good.
A tab cannot do some of what a phone does, so those parts are left out rather than faked: reminders, the step count, writing sessions to a health store, the buzz when a rest ends, and the home-screen widget. The browser's own Back button leaves the app; use the back arrows inside it.
Export backup and Restore work as they do on a phone and use the same file, so that is how training moves between a browser and a phone, in either direction. Progress photos stay where they were taken; a backup does not carry them.
Reminders arrive late, or not at the time I set
On Android, the system holds notifications back by up to an hour to save battery unless the app is allowed to schedule exact alarms. GymBuddy asks for that permission and tells you on the Reminders screen when it does not have it.
Open Reminders. If a card there says reminders may arrive late, tap Open settings and turn on Allow setting alarms and reminders. You can also reach it in Android Settings under Apps → GymBuddy → Alarms & reminders. Turning it off again is fine; reminders still fire, just less punctually.
Reminders do not appear at all
That is the notification permission rather than the timing one. The Reminders screen says so and offers to ask for it. If you declined once and no longer get the prompt, turn notifications back on in your phone's settings under Apps → GymBuddy.
My step count is missing or looks wrong
Steps come from your phone's own sensor, and on Android also from Health Connect where a watch writes them. Tap Allow on the Today screen's steps card to grant access. A phone that spent the day on a desk genuinely counted no steps — the app does not estimate.
The home-screen widget says "Out of date"
That is deliberate. The widget shows a snapshot the app saved, and if the app has not run since yesterday the snapshot describes yesterday. Rather than show you a session that is no longer today's, it says so. Tap it and it refreshes.
Backing up, restoring, and moving to a new phone
Open Settings — the gear on the Today screen — and tap Export backup to write a backup file and hand it to your share sheet. Save it somewhere you will still have it later. Restore reads one back.
Restoring replaces everything currently logged, which is why it asks twice. What was there is kept for one undo, offered straight afterwards and gone at the next restore. Export first if you are unsure.
Settings → Spreadsheet writes a CSV instead: one row per set, openable in any spreadsheet. It is for keeping and reading, not for restoring — a CSV cannot be imported back into the app.
Someone sent me a split and nothing happened
Some chat apps do not turn a GymBuddy link into something tappable, so it arrives as plain text. Copy the whole message, open the Split tab and tap Import a split, then paste it there. The code inside the message is enough — you do not need to trim it.
Importing shows you what the split contains before anything is saved, and adds it as a new split beside your own. It never overwrites the week you are training.
The same box also takes a split written out as plain text, so you can type a week yourself or have an assistant write one. Write a split has the format.
How do I delete my data?
Uninstall the app. Everything it stored goes with it — there is no account to close and no
copy on a server anywhere, because there is no server. In a browser, clear the site's data
for gymbuddy.reaktor.build in the browser's own settings; that is the same thing.
Two things outlive an uninstall, both yours: any backup or CSV you exported and saved somewhere yourself, and the copy Android's own backup service may hold in your Google account. You can clear the latter in Android Settings under Backup, or from Google Drive's app-data settings. See Privacy for the detail.
Reporting a bug
Tell whoever gave you the link what you did, what you expected, and what happened instead, along with your phone model and OS version — or which browser, if that is where it was. The app sends no crash reports, so a bug nobody describes is a bug nobody knows about. Leave out screenshots of anything you would not want a stranger to read: nobody here can see your data, and would rather keep it that way.
